John Boyne
The author of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas was born and raised in Ireland. Born on 30th April 1971 his writing started from a very young age writing stories in his free time. He studied English literature at trinity college Dublin and took the MA course in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia where he won the Curtis Brown price. His first novel The Thief of Time got published in 2000 followed by The Congress of Rough Riders in 2001. To date he has published seven novels and two novellas.
After winning the Curtis Brown price he has won another six awards, including Irish children’ s book of the year, Orange price readers’ group book of the year and best international novel of the year in Spain. His most successful novel was Boy in The Striped Pyjamas which has sold more than 5 million copies around the globe. Now the film adaptation of the book is released in the same name.
